Lakescape - 359 (Tringa erythropus)

Keoladeo Bharatpur Jamboree - 11

Simplicity ...

... this image has
really become a favorite
of mine ... for its
sheer simplicity ...

Though ...
the circumstances
in which
it was taken
were somewhat
dramatic ...

It was early morning
with overcast sky
light intermittent
shower and biting
winter chill ...

... we located these
lovely long-distance
migrants
in a stray water
collection outside the
National Park Boundary

... I pulled the car
to the edge of
the road ... rolled
down the window on my
side and started
shooting ...
... completely unaware
of a burly Alfa-male
Rhesus Macaque ... that
had crept in stealthily
up to the car ...
and was
about to jump
in ...
His attempt
thwarted only
in the nick of time ...
saving me and
the camera ...

A real escape ...
... and we got away
with an image to
remember ...
