Lakescape -43 : Early Birds-4
Another image from 2nd Aug. , 2011
outing ...
It shows Wood Sandpiper and Ruff
along with Yellow Wattled Lapwing ..

The last named is a species
Endemic to the Sub-continent
of India .
YWL on one hand and WSP and
Ruff on the other represent
two different kinds of
Migration patterns...
...while the latter two are
known for their long - distance
displacements , the YSL spreads
out through the Sub-continent
along with the onset of
Summer Monsoon rains .
It is for the first time
that I have seen them
in this area
through many decades of travel...
...as most of my travels and
birding were in pre and
post Monsoon periods...when
probably they stayed away from
this region .
...And YWL is a lifer to me
as well.

Another nice mix of birds, congrats on a fine newbie Alok, well done my friend.

A beautiful capture, Alok & Renu.

Your YW Lapwing reminds me so much of the Masked Lapwing we have in Oz.

Thanks for sharing another wonderful Lakescape and congratulations on your lifer.
