Lapland Longspur
Rick Whitman

Lapland Longspur (Calcarius lapponicus)

This species is almost always in company with Horned Larks. It is impossible to get anywhere near to the larks, except in a car. Here, I found two Longspurs on their own and they acted like normal birds, for a change.
Habitat
dykeland fields, beaches
Location
Nova Scotia
Date taken
November 5, 2013
Scientific name
Calcarius lapponicus
Equipment used
Panasonic DMC-FZ40
A wonderful capture Rick! I'll have to make a trip north to see these guys I think.

Good photo with fine image quality and a nice looking set up.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

You did well to spot this bird. Maybe it thought it was so well camouflaged among those dry leaves that it needn't worry about the photographer.A superb capture.
