Lappers
There were just a few Lapwing around, not the huge flock of a few weeks before.

Sadly they no longer breed at Kinnordy, having lost all their eggs and young to Otters over the past few years.

Such a shame.
Habitat
Inland loch and woodland nature reserve
Location
Kinnordy RSPB Reserve, Kirriemuir, Angus
Date taken
23 March 2019
Scientific name
Vanellus vanellus
Equipment used
Fuji Finepix HS50 Sports Mode Continuous
Great picture. A rare photo now.
Indeed sad when birds do not find appropriate/safe breeding places. A strongly affected species here as well. Habitat issues or predators (foxes/martens AO) make it difficult for them to raise their chicks.

a great photo, Delia, wonderful setting!! they used to breed here until a few years ago, now they're gone, so sad. top class, many tfs!!!
