Lapwin in the grass, Musselburgh.
An oil painting (10x14 inches) worked-up from sketches done last weekend at Levenhall (Musselburgh lagoons). It was quite a dull and breezy day so Ive tried to lighten the image a bit and have the Lapwing's crest bending in the wind. I hope to have retained some intimacy by not getting overly fussy with the grass and concentrating on the head detail. It needs a bit more work - some clover heads and Ill need to tighten up the ribworts. Sorry if the photo is a bit fuzzy, I will try to get a better image of the finished piece.
