Lapwing on the wing

Lapwing on the wing (Vanellus vanellus)

Some unexpected sunshine gave me a great opportunity to photograph Lapwings in flight at Doxey Marshes, a local wetland reserve in Stafford.

The lapwings seemed really restless, constantly calling and regularly popping up in small and large numbers, then circling round before setting back down. The occasional bird passed by close enough for me to practice my panning technique!
