Lapwing

Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus)

Another shot with the camera mounted on my home built remote control system with a video link to the camera viewfinder. All shaken down now with a couple of bugs in the system sorted out so the pan and tilt action is working smoothly, and more importantly.. silently!
Habitat
Farmland
Location
bedfordshire
Date taken
June 2008
Scientific name
Vanellus vanellus
Equipment used
Canon EOS 1 Ds MkII + 20-35mm lens and lots of other clever stuff
As you posted a couple of days ago: "I wouldn't have put this on the net normally, but as I got some even better images of this bird yesterday, I decided I would!"
So this is one of your not so good pictures as well ...? Great background though ;)

Many thanks, and yes Jack, this Lapwing in particular has been a real delight to photograph in this way, this is one of the earlier shots, i.e. over a week ago, I have refined the technology and technique a bit better now I am used to the gear, and I have also re landscaped the pool and background a bit, so it looks like a different location.
The shots I have of this bird hovering and pulling a worm out of the mud, or of it bathing, along with several others should win a few competitions.
I have also done Yellow Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Grey Partridge, Linnet, Goldfinch, Starlings (bathing) and Corn Bunting (bathing) with this kit too, its very time consuming but Its very rewarding too.
