Large Yellow Underwing - Noctua pronuba (Noctua pronuba)

There was a clump of this ragwort on the stream bordered edge of the village football field. This wild flower gets a lot of bad press and is indeed dangerous to horses and cattle if eaten but the animals usually leave it alone. People tend to indiscriminately rip out these plants wherever they grow which is indeed an offence for which they could be prosecuted unless they have a license to do so.
This clump had this yellow underwing moth feeding on it however a few weeks later this plant had also been destroyed even though it was harmless where it grew !

A stunning and beautifully detailed image of this Moth John!

I, like you, hate to see any natural vegetation destroyed.
