Late Arrival (Hirundo rustica)

Our local ebirders have reported at least a thousand in one spot nearby which usually means they're grouping up to leave the area. That's why I was surprised to find this fledgling sitting in the middle of my potted lotus plant while a parent flew back and forth over the youngster.

Oh my goodness, how precious is this. It does seem to be a bit late in the year to see a youngster still with pin feathers. Awesome close-up Vicki! Please, don't worry about posting the same species as I do. I know we both try to avoid it but it happens and it made my day seeing this little cutie. TFS Vicki!
