A very woody capture of this thrush. I think the picture has all shades of brown in it. Congratulations on your new lifer!

Many people think this is a Hermit Thrush...I've had several nests all summer with Wood Thrushes and to my eye this looked to be one of the same birds, right by one of the same nests. I am a very green rookie though LOL. I posted the quick video in the Identification help thread but I'll post here as well...Most of the "red" was the light coming thru the red and yellow fall leaves, and the belly is sunwashed out (but you can see the lower markings a few frames when the wing lifts for flight)...

Now I'm not so sure, and can see why some birds are so difficult to identify \_ (ツ)_/¯. When this came up before, I thought the definitive proof would be the vocals and not the coloring (or off coloring). If it is a Hermit, I can cross a new one off my list, so not looking to be "right", just want it to be labeled correctly...

Thanks

I believe it is a Hermit Thrush. Note the reddish tail as well as the slow tail raising behavior which is characteristic of Hermit Thrush.

Yes, a new bird for me. Sorry it was mislabeled, going to have to get some better shots of it now...LOL
