Leaving (Urocyon cinereoargenteus)

I was happy this Grey Fox finally decided all on its own to turn tail and leave us. It was just sitting on the trail looking at us for quite a long time, and that can be a sign of advanced rabies. But the fox did look healthy and did get up and trot off after a bit, with a backward glance or two. So I guess it was just staring at us out of caution, not out of diseased apathy. So I didn't have to call wildlife control after all. Whew! The photo was taken just as it was turning dark, about half an hour after sunset, only a few meters from the house as sister-in-law and I returned from our evening walk.

Yeah.... I bet you were very relieved when you realised he wasn't ill. Always a difficult call that.

What a lovely picture you've got of him Ann - well done lassie.

Good to know there was nothing wrong with him, Ann. A rather wistful shot.
