Let's twist again

Let's twist again (Nucifraga caryocatactes)

like we did last summer ...
Catching up on old photos. Have to clear out space on the 'puter for my trip CA end of Feb/beginning of Mar. Spring migration should have started by then. Hoping to see loads of waders along the Bay, warblers in the woods at Pt. Reyes. And also visit relatives, do some shopping, see my brother's new home, hike off some kilos ... and take a couple weeks' break from writing. But first, I need to get some of that writing done. Do my posts for the day, then back to work.

Oh you!!!! How very dare you kick off your European year with this guy!!!! Just designed to make me jealous grrrr!!!

A super picture you've got of him Ann - a great pose that too.

A great portrait of this stunning bird, Ann. This species is uncommon in Massif Central, but very common in the Alps.
About the choice of one garden or another by small birds in winter: they generally avoid windy places. Our garden is very exposed and today, with a stong West wind, birds are less abundant here than previous days.

LOL, Brian! Chubby Checker released that one in 1961. I was alive then, but not yet in my teens. My other twist reference today (Oliver) is older. I wasn't born when that one came out ;) But yeah, I'm old enough to know better.
