LIFER-Yellow bellied sapsucker (Sphyrapicus varius)

I was standing on my back deck this morning when this sapsucker (a female, I think) landed in a tree right in front of me. I thought it was just another hairy woodpecker, but then did a double take when I saw the white wing bar.The first of this bird I have ever seen!! Before I could do anything the bird flew to the top of a nearby power pole, where it started scanning around for bugs. I had a terrible time trying to get a decent shot against the bright sky with my point and shoot, and this is the best I could manage with full optical zoom and some digital.. Not all that great, but since it's another lifer for me, I decided to post it.

Wowser Bill!!! Congratulations on your latest Lifer.

A great picture you got of her too - very well done. Though now wondering if it's a juvie?

Either way... how wonderful to know that they're around... you should now get more sightings, shouldn't you.

Your yard list is growing, and growing, isn't it.

Congratulations on this lifer! You certainly got a great image for your album.
