Leaving aside any sort of "size illusion" or perspective effects, it's always been instructive to compare the size of these two species close together: Little Egrets are smaller, and BHGs larger, than we tend to think. Very nice shot Mike, good work on the exposure especially.

Excellent size comparison ... although, the egret is at a height disadvantage with his feet deep in the water.
