Little Hummer

Little Hummer (Archilochus colubris)

Not as good a shot as our American cousins, but another first for me. It was great to watch these small birds, coming and going to the feeder. Some of them appeared quite aggressive, chasing off rivals, and bigger birds. My youngest granddaughter Saabrah, tells me this is a juvenile, or female, as it doesn't have the ruby coloured throat.

A beautiful shot of your lifer Mali.

This time of year, you cannot always tell the difference between a female and a juvie male although most of my juvie males have the start of the red gorget going on and it actually looks more like an injury unless they turn their head the right way.
