A super woodie picture... think it's probably a Great Spotted?

No, spring is not here yet Mo - February is really our coldest month, though the days are lengthening and the sun can feel warm if you're in a sheltered spot. March is the month when 'early' spring starts but still too cold for most birds to lay eggs, though they are getting into territorial mode.

Spring comes about 3 weeks earlier in the south of England than in Scotland!
