I was driving down a gravel road on the open prairie to the east of where I live looking for birds this afternoon and spotted this Shrike sitting in a tree next to the road. My first thought from a distance was that it was just a Mockingbird, which is quite common around here, but upon looking at the photo after I took the picture, it was apparent that it was a Loggerhead Shrike which is within its range but becoming scarce from what I have read. Sorry the picture isn't sharper, but took it from a distance in VGA format at maximum zoom and wasn't able to get closer for a better shot.
