Long-tailed Shrike -mimicking calls -Amazing Wildlife of India by Renu Tewari and Alok Tewari (Lanius schach)

These Shrikes are
amazing mimics ...
Here one can listen
to this individual
giving a repertoire
of calls ... mimicking
those of small birds
present in the
vicinity ... Prinias Munias
... and Weavers
... as well as that
of Common Mynas

In this recording
one can hear both
original calls produced by
birds themselves
and their mimicry by
the Shrike ...

A terrific close-up of this talented shrike. I had no idea that any shrike species were mimics. Very impressive footage of this beauty. TFS Renu & Alok!
