Even birds readily identifiable for the long-distance traveler turned out to be whole different species, each with its own special traits. I've already mentioned that the "Magpies" down under aren't even corvids; they're butcherbirds. This Raven was actually a Raven, though. His only peculiarities that I could tell were the adults' pale eyes :eek!: and some calls I haven't heard Ravens make in Europe or in California (but of course, I doubt I've heard every vocalization Ravens make on this side of the planet; I just haven't had the time or the luck to hear more).
