Los Cedros Reserve Ecuador
Have spent a month volunteering at Los Cedros reserve in Ecuador www.reservaloscedros.org , shortly setting up a bird gallery for the site, would really like to encourage people who can to visit this incredible place, as they are under threat from land-grabbers and mining companies. Thanks for looking.
Habitat
Cloud forest
Location
Los Cedros, Ecuador
Date taken
22/12/07
Scientific name
Glaucidium nubicola
Equipment used
D200 600mm F5.6
Lets hope that the developers and others don't manage to get their hands on this land.

Well done on your volunteering and for this brnad new species for the database.

Dear Peter,
excellent shot. Are you sure it is Glaucidium parkeri and not Glaucidium nubicola. Glaucidium parkeri lives only on the eastern slope of the Andes and Los Cedros is located on the western slope, where nubicola lives.
Regards

Falke is right and I have corrected the name. Regardless, very nice - only the second photo of this species in the BF gallery.
