Madam Tuftie (Aythya fuligula)

We do have Tufties on the river here in Trondheim, but they don't let us get as close as this. Ours stay up-river, out in the countryside. The ones at stensj Lake were in an urban setting and more accustomed to people being about. Other birders there said that the birds were getting bolder by the year, so photo ops were getting better and better.

A superb capture... beautiful species indeed, and I know how wary they can be... nice to see opportunity levels improving ;-)
