Major Mitchell's (Pink) Cockatoo (Cacatua leadbeateri)

One of several dozen feeding in the bloodwoods around Freshwater Bore, Newhaven Station, Northern Territory. Although these are the least common of the Australian white cockatoos, they are quite widespread across the continent.

Bloodwood sounds like something you'd see in middle Earth! Never heard of that before.

A great pic of this Pinky though (does it have a mate called Perky I wonder? ;) ).
