I've just checked and apparently they were introduced to the Cape Town area.

It's great to see you posting again lass.

Thank you for your help in identifying this bird. This bird must be rare in Cape Town South Africa as most people I spoke to did not recognize it. Usually Finches move in groups but this one is on its own. it come and feeds with some Cape sparrows.
