Male Eastern Towhee

Male Eastern Towhee (pipilo erythrophthalmus)

I sure the heck don't know why they call this a Perching Bird. Most times I see him he is running away from me on foot. I have been tracking him for days to try to get a side profile shot but I'm not there yet. Since the pickings are slow now I going to go ahead and post this one I took last week or so.

Wonderful frontal closeup of this handsome Towhee! Love that red eye and the sweetgum ball next to it, or is that a Russian Sputnik? Fabulous Daniel!
