male Moussiers Redstart

Rockjumper Birding Tours tour leader David Erterius is currently leading a tour in Spain, and on April 30th, while birding the Ebro delta on the Mediterranean east coast, David and his group found this absolutely stunning male Moussiers Redstart!! In Davids words:
"We were about to enter an observation tower at lAlfacada in the outermost part of the delta, when I heard the song of a Melodious Warbler, the first encounter of this species for the tour. I called on the group and as we were about to locate the warbler, a very striking passerine flew by in perfect light just in front of me. It took me a few seconds, then I couldn't believe my own eyes Moussiers Redstart!!!"
The bird was very cooperative and showed well in tamarisk scrubs, leafed bushes and on fence posts for the whole group, and later in the day, local birders arrived to the actual spot to twitch the bird.
Moussiers Redstart is an endemic resident of the Atlas Mountains in northwest Africa. If accepted, this constitutes the 9th national record for Spain!"
Well done David! smile emoticon
