Martial Eagle attacking Egyptian Goose

The eagle was sitting on top of the struggling goose for a good 5 minutes. Finally, he gave up and flew off to a nearby tree, while a rather dishevelled looking goose went back into the water - both combatants still within close proximity to each other.

Cracking image! The Eagle has very resolute look. I bet you are happy with this photo. And the others you took during that, at least to the Goose, very long 5 minutes. :loveme:

Cheers for the comments, guys. I missed the start of the action, so I can only surmise that he did not hit the goose hard enough. Martial eagles are big enough to be able to take a goose. It was great drama to watch - and even more interesting to see how quickly both the eagle and goose recovered. Within a few minutes, the goose actually was swimming in the water - even crossed over to the side where the eagle was sitting!
