Mating time... again ;)

Mating time... again ;) (Columba palumbus)

Pair of Wood Pigeons mating yesterday... through the double glazing, but decent light for a change.

Strange pair these, apart from mating every chance they get, the female is always more keen than the male (no schoolboy humour please ;) ). The male offers food from his crop - the female takes the food (it's called "Billing" ) - the female squats down waiting for the male to hop on top - the male offers the female more food. I think I need to have a talk to the male, as he's not quite got the ritual right ;)

Super capture Chris, I have a local pair that mate on my fence, but I never have my camera ready at the time, one day perhaps. Tfs

A brilliant behavioural capture and narrative, Chris !!! Thanks for sharing.

Well captured Chris, you must have the cleanest double glazing in the UK ;)

Super behaviour capture Chris...Since when have you been giving sex education lessons mate? I reckon I need some, I've forgotten what it is, LOL.
