The muses of tragedy and comedy. And I admit, I had to look up their names. These are just a small sample of the many beak forms in the mixed crowd of waders. That always fascinates me with waders - how they mix and get along, probably because they are so specialized and therefore not competing with one another in their preferred prey and their style of foraging - poking, sweeping, stirring up mud, stabbing, shuffling with their feet, turning over limpets, dashing through the waves, running after sandflies ...

A super capture, Doc. I always love to see shorebirds - we are so eager have them back here each year after their breeding trip to norther Asia.
