Hi Sulqatar, thanks for the background information - i am not sure that the hobby needs to be forbidden, but certainly carefully regulated. Four Stone Curlews being taked by your friends falcon may not affect the overall population, but when i was in Syria, local people told me that a falcon could be sold for thousands of dollars! It was no wonder i didn't see a single Peregrine, Lanner, Barbary or Saker in a whole month! I was told that people from the Gulf were catching Sociable Plover too, an endangered species! So i agree that it must be carefully controlled.
