Midair collision (first pic)

I was out on the dyke on Sunday, saw some Snowy Owls way to far out for me to shoot, saw some Harriers and Short eared Owls.

One of the Owls had just dropped down and caught a mouse in a field. It then came up and ran right into a passing Harrier. Somewhere along the way the mouse was lost. This is the first shot of the crash.

These guys were about 50 yards away and I cropped very tight therefore the diminished quality of the shots.
Habitat
farmland, agricultural fields
Location
along the dyke near farm fields
Date taken
Jan. 14, 2007
Equipment used
Canon 20D + 100 - 400mm L lens
Such rare events are to be prised and cherished. You may never see it again. Nice sequence.

Diminished quality is irrelevant here - you've grasped a rare opportunty, and successfully brought it to the rest of us - and that's quality of a different kind.

Thanks for sharing these moments; I'm off to look at number 2 now.

I think Rose has said it perfectly - this is the third or fourth time I've viewed the sequence. Ace.
