.... but not a porker LOL.

This rather beautiful Intermediate Egret was in the same tree as the cormorant on my previous post.

They were rather close to power lines crossing the site, and I was very sad to see a few corpses underneath them.

There were no coloured discs on the lines, like I see here where the lines are beside a flyway for birds or on a nature reserve.

A beautiful bird indeed Delia and a cracking photo. A pity about the power lines, let's hope someone will take up the idea of coloured discs.

Thank you so much for your comprehensive reply on wren taxonomy! My Collins is the latest edition. The best other high quality ID book I have is The Handbook of Bird Identification for Europe and the Western Palearctic but it was published in 1998, so well out of date re taxonomy. But there's Opus! I just forget about it, which is a pity since it's a very valuable resource. You've reminded me of its existence before, apologies!

Marvelous picture of this attractive Egret D. Its sad they wont put up spinners or something on the high lines to let the birds know they are there. TFS!
