Midt i smryet (Fulica americana)

The caption is in Norwegian. Its implication is that this juv American Coot is swimming in the middle of his dinner, right in the best part - the "eye of butter" at the center of the plate of porridge. As for his own eye, I think he was blinking off water as he popped up from nibbling roots or stems of ... Hmmm. If Stanley weren't off travelling, he'd probably be able to identify the water plant. Too bad. I can't.
