Migratory Grasshopper
Migratory Grasshopper (Melanoplus sanguinipes: Acrididae) 1.8-2.9 cm (0.71-1.1 in) long.
Habitat
Post Oak Savanna vegetation area, Brazos River Valley, agriculture fields and tame pastureland at 77 m (253 ft) elevation. At the edge of a corn field on the hood of my car.
Location
Foyt Road, west of Mumford, Robertson County, Texas, USA.

Seen in macro, these exoskeletals look like mechanical toys or wooden puzzles. Love it!
