Mojave Rattlesnake

Mojave Rattlesnake (Crotalus scutulatus)

Mojave Rattlesnake, found in the Southwest United States. This one was in my backyard.

The Mojave Rattlesnake is considered the most dangerous of all the rattlesnakes.

This spring one bit my little dog and it cost me over $100 per inch (of the snake) at the Vet's.

Should have eaten it (the snake that is). Would have been a very expensive meal!

Ouch....this is close enough. Nice shot, hope you were using a looooooong lense. :t:

A splendid shot of the detail of this snake's head! I've never seen a rattlesnake this close before - so many fascinating shapes and patterns - a truly incredible creature. :t:

A fearsome looking almost prehistoric creature. Terrific close up...and I hope you little dog is all recovered now!!

Echo Tim and Raul's comments, the tongue out truly takes this shot to another level. Cool shot!

Wow, Larry! Glad he was in your yard and not mine! We haven't seen a one in the yard this year. Maybe there are reasons not to have an oasis. Great shot, and glad the little one is ok. :t:
