More hot day behaviour (Pica pica)

Finally for today, here's the first bird that really struck me as behaving oddly. I also caught a Moorhen stretching her wings out for a long time, but that might have been a post-preening stretch. This Magpie, however, was definitely trying to either shade himself or perhaps a chick underneath him. Too late for shading eggs; they were surely all hatched already. Most of the rest of my pics from that day are of various chicks and juvies. A lot of "awwww-some" shots. You are hereby forewarned. ;)

You can just see the preening gland at the base of the tail.

Love the shiny blue feathers. Absorbing as much of the sun's rays as it can. Three brilliant posts of these lovely sunbathers! TFS Doc!
