More Trouble at Tern Island (Sterna hirundo, Chroicocephalus ridibundus)

I posted a shot of these birds on Sunday, but hadn't got round to looking at this one properly. Feelings are clearly running high as the need to find nesting places becomes ever more urgent. I call the raft "Tern Island" (it was constructed for them) but the BHG may think it has a better claim to the property. After all, it's probably been in the area all winter, and then these terns suddenly arrive out of nowhere!

Who can blame these creatures for what they do. An excellent shot yours.
Breeding rafts attract birds that want to breed and some of these are bigger predators.
Larger rafts attract more seabirds. Sorry for not having a better idea.
I believe additional rafts might be an option at some places but the question of predation still remains.

another great action photo, John!!! it seems that the gull is quite determined not to give in, could become quite tough for the terns!! top notch capture, many tfs!!!

Clearly, that Gull wants nothing to do with the Terns and this is a great behavioral image of this John!

Big bully, isn't he John (well big in comparison to a tern I guess LOL)

That's a great action capture John - excellent stuff my friend.
