Morelet's Seedeater (Sporophila morelleti) Four subspecies are recognized with only subspecies morelleti being mapped for Costa Rica. This seedeater ranges from sea level to 1,524 m (5,000 ft) elevation. Photographed along Hwy 34 between Quepos and Dominical in the Province of Puntarenas. Near migrant workers Colonia for a West African Palm Oil Plantation, converted lowland rainforest at ca. 5 m elevation. Species sexually dimorphic.
