Mother and Child (Podargus ocellatus)

This was the first year she nested in my backyard. She nested again in 2006 year, but the drought has killed the tree she nested in. I hope she will come somewhere close for the next season

Tawny Frogmouths are nocturnal birds. During the day, they perch on tree branches, often low down, camouflaged as part of the tree.

Tawny Frogmouths are often confused with owls, but are actually more closely related to the nightjars. Their feet are weak however, and lack the curved talons of owls.
