Mrens horse. Backlit portrait. (equus caballus)

Mrens horse. After the habitat shot, now the portrait. Capcir, french Pyrnes, july 2008.

The mrens horses live in small herds, and absolutely free during the summer months,in the mountains of Capcir.
Their appearance is very close to those of the wild horses painted on the walls of the Niaux cave (Arige, french pyrnes) by our cro-magnon ancestors 13000 years ago, during the last ice age. I chose here a backlit portrait that adds to the likeness.

Ah! I've got a soft spot in my heart for Horses and you've filled it nicedly with this shot Bernard.

Beautiful horse.......wonderful image Bernard, the tails are rather short o:)o:):t:

o:) Horses were my favourite animals when I was a little girl... until I discovered birds and they hooked me! ;) But I still love them, so beautiful, so elegant, so strong... as yours in the picture summarize! ;) Loads of thanks for sharing this special animal and its "historical background", Bernard, una foto preciosa!!! :t: :t: :loveme:

Many thanks again everyone for the very kind and nice comments :t:
I think that many persons like the "meilleur ami de l'homme" ;)

What i like most about this picture,Bernard is the backlit mane. Makes all the difference for me. Our Cro-Magnon ancestors had a great eye for beauty too. ;); Nice. :t:

You got very close for wild horses! What a great experience it must have been. Fine work! :t:
