Musk Duck
Broc

Musk Duck (Biziura lobata)

Without doubt the most unusual duck I have seen. This was was rather small so could be a juvi.
Location
Serendip Sanctuary, Vic.
Date taken
April 2008
Scientific name
Biziura lobata
Equipment used
5D + 100-400IS
A really great photo of either a young one or a female. The detail is excellent (something I have always had trouble with) and the colour is spot on. A beauty Broc.
Oh I am so green with envy, I haven't seen one now for about 3 years. Lake Wendouree in Ballarat used to have lots.

Nice shot. I remember seeing them around Sydney as a kid, but I haven't seen one for years.
