This is the nidus parasite (the cowbird). Attempt are underway to eradicate this species. They lay their eggs in the nest of other birds (yellow throats included) and then leave. The cowbird young hatch, grow faster and larger (fed by the unsuspecting yellowthroat), and push the eggs, or young of yellowthroat out of the nest. Cowbird are a real problem for some species already struggling to survive. Here, in the Kern Valley, mist nets, and other methods are being employed to capture the females and eliminate them.
