My first bird close-up

My first bird close-up (Hirundo daurica)

Another from my Southern holidays.

This is something Ive never done before, to crop a bird pic as a close-up. But this cutie was perched in the shade of a veranda on a window grille, rusty and with signs of plenty of swallows perched through the years (you know what I mean, ;)), so the setting looked awful and spoiled the shot. Then I thought on cropping out everything ugly and leave it as a head-and-shoulders portrait I hope it works like this!

By the way, its another newbie in my gallery! o:)
Habitat
Window grille (but I doubt that can be considered a habitat, ;))
Location
Tablas de Daimiel National Park, Ciudad Real Province, C Spain
Date taken
12 August 2008
Scientific name
Hirundo daurica
Equipment used
Leica V-LUX 1 (handheld, ISO100, f/4.0, 1/250s, 0.0 ev)

Works well, Marian. The wing looks great. You have remained the beautiful quality after cropping. Brilliant!

Just a gorgeous portrait of this newbie Marian  excellent cropping :t::t::t:

Perfectly cropped, Marian - and very artistic with the bird's breast merging with the background. Had been nice to see the full image too - to view the parts of the bird giving it it's name |=)||=)| :t::t::clap:
