My first Woodie pic!

My first Woodie pic! (Dendrocopos major)

Another rescued from the "darkness" (in this case taken in a very dim day).

Believe it or not, I had never uploaded a Woodpecker pic!!! :eek!: Here they are very wary and to have one close is very difficult. So I was amazed to see this one arrived to this tree, very close to me, just minding his own business so I minded mine too (snapping away)!!! o:D
Habitat
Big park
Location
Fuentesblancas Park, outskirts of Burgos City, N Spain
Date taken
3 May 2010
Scientific name
Dendrocopos major
Equipment used
Canon 50D + Sigma 50-500 mm (handheld, ISO2000, f/9, 1/640s, +1/3 ev)
Thank you, thank you so much for your encouraging words really I don't know what to say!!! o:) When I processed this pic in my i-Mac I was so happy with my job, looked good for the ISO2000 I had used but when I clicked it to read your words from the PC at work, tears of shame came to my eyes: colourless, mega-noisy, over-sharpened If what you see in your screens is this second version, your kindness is worthy of a Saint!!!

Definitively, my last attempt to rescue something taken in bad light conditions I can't know if my postprocessing is good or bad :-C

Something (I hope better) coming as soon as I make my mind up on what to post. Thanks a million once more, cheers everybody!!! B :)

I'd say you've done a great job with this one,Marian! Iso 2000 and with a sky background, still the Woody is very well lit, tears of shame is out of the question for this great shot! Congrats to a job well done.

What a top capture of this newbie for you, Marian. Well done, my friend. :king:

now it is "Helwa Dulce Marian woody girl", i hope you like your new title, hehehehe.

that woody did himself good by posing like this for you g/f, who better can turn him to BF superstar.

fabulous capture in low light, and brilliant rescue work, frankly i don't have the courage to go over ISO 500 i can never keep the details even if i could control the noise.

love the abstract effect of the leaves and branches on the lower right side.

I would have guessed that you have GSWs in your gallery. Now you have.. ;) Lovely pic of this hansome bird!

Excellent portrait of this handsome castillian woody :t::t: Great work,my spanish friend ;):clap:

Good rescue, mi amiga! Marian, you constantly surprise me with your handheld shots using such a heavy lens without stabilization.

Great job. I love Woodpeckers. They are easy to hear but often hard to find among the leaves and trees. Well done under less than ideal situation.
