my son calls these flying rats but i have a soft spot for these guys.think you either love or hate them but i admire it for its survival, navigation and hearing skills to name a few but everyone to their own opinion.
Well my opinion is that regardless of the merits or otherwise of the feral pigeon no one can dispute that this is a first class close-up. Excellent, Margaret!
We used to have a lot of pigeons visiting us in our 4th floor flat balcony(at times even in our drawing room)in Mumbai a few years ago and soil the place and create quite a ruckus. A few times, they even laid eggs in our flower pots which stank. My wife couldn't stand them and would shoe them away, not caring one bit about my protests. So you are right either one likes them or hates them. I may have a photo somewhere of a pigeon perched on a sofa, which I will try to upload.
A fine shot of this great chatter box, Margaret!! tfs.
Great close-up, Margaret. With Remembrance Sunday close, it's a shame that people don't remember how many lives Pigeons (and other Animals) saved during Wars. An example: http://www.homeofheroes.com/wings/part1/3b_cherami.html
I also remember Mary Poppins, and the old lady feeding the Pigeons to the song "Feed the Birds"... now the Pigeons live off of our discarded food in the streets... and we blame them for surviving
