in the thick cloud forests sometimes it is just easier to walk up the river ways. the night this was taken I remained exposed to the worst storm in recent history according to people I talked to later at a biological station. 4 mist netters experiences lightning first hand working on the ridge line while I watched this river go from ankle deep to over my head in just a few minutes. the flash flood hit so abrupt I was unable to protect my camera gear and suffered gear failures for nearly 8days. the ways of which I experience nature that night have forever instilled a form of respect for what this planet can throw at you without warning.

I'll admitt exposing myself to the elements as I've done these last five years may not have been my smartest decisions even in the last 12 months I've neglected personal safety too many times to count, my profile picture is me swimming alone for hours down a large river on a few sticks I roped together with a t-shirt, that was to make a phone call. I learned my lesson on Easter island around thanksgiving as I woke up one morning with a 5 inch ulcer in my ankle from a parasite I contracted in the amazon. But I'm 26years old and this is the part in my life where I feel I can push my limits and redefine capable, I'll take that over the typical safe route anyday. As for now, I'm almost all healed up and already planning my next rainforest adventure, new abilities will allow live updates to the forum from deep inside the amazon....
