I spotted this picture on a scroll through some images last night and it so reminded me of the Sycamore Gap Tree beside Hadrian's Wall, which was vandalised by being completely chopped down one night in September. Such a shame for this iconic place. The National Trust are trying to decide what is best to do with all the wood now and are asking people to give them their ideas.

Anyway, this tree, which I can never remember what species it is, means such a lot to me too. It's the only broad-leaved tree for quite a distance and really stands so proudly overlooking the water. Even the Lochan Monster, seems quite comfortable in his presence. You can just make him out in the long grass and reeds at the water's edge directly below the tree.
If you could give me your ideas for what to officially call the monster, I'll choose one LOL I didn't take the picture with the monster in mind - it was the tree I photographed, not the monster. If there's enough votes I'll maybe think about posting a closer image of it.
