Nankeen Kestrel Twins (Falco cenchroides)

While walking from Coogee to Bondi along the coast today, I saw this willi wagtail harassing a Nankeen Kestrel! It is quite a sight. At first I saw the Nankeen Kestrel, flew and rested on a goal post in the field, there was a willi wagtail feeding on the ground nearby. I thought this would be the end of the willi wagtail, the Nankeen Kestrel would have it for breakfast. Surprisingly, the willi wagtail, decided to fly above the nankeen kestrel and started to harass it! Too bad, the longest lens I had at that moment was a 50mm... :( It was supposed to be a non birding trip.

Anyway, this is a unpublish old photo of a pair of Nankeen Kestrel, taken around the same area. I believe this are young birds, since I was able to get real close to them. And they look too innocent:)

Beautiful Kestrels and great shot! Never undervalue the power of Willie-wagtails -they're the scurge of many large raptors. Great story!
