New Garden Bird

New Garden Bird (Sayornis phoebe)

Yes, it is just an Eastern Phoebe, a common flycatcher in these parts, but, I've never had one in the garden before nor have I gotten a photograph of one so it's a double first for me.

I was quite surprised to see this sweet bird doing its lightening swoop, dive and hover routine and knew there was a great bird out back and I was so pleased to see this sweet one in my viewfinder!

This composition would have been better if the bird were looking toward that bit of foliage in the upper left corner of the image but I really liked the background so am posting it anyway. Hope you like it too.

Nice pose on this Phoebe, Deanne. I have Black Phoebes feeding on insects in my yard almost all year round. They are fun to watch.
