Northern Bobwhite

This one surprised me today. I was sitting at the window watching all the birds eating on the ground and at my feeders and this one showed up out of nowhere. I suddenly saw it appear in the fenced pen that I feed my ground feeder birds for protection in. It made it's way to the Butterfly Bush, hid out for a bit then tried to eat what leaves there are of my bush, which may be seven at the most for this time of year. Then it decided to go through the fence and then flew up to my deck and walked around for a bit, stopped for a pose then flew off towards the pasture. I see these along road sides or around tall grass once in a blue moon. You can imagine my shock for it to be in my yard let alone on my deck! Made my evening since I didn't get to go birding today. Photo taken through window so not all that clear but glad I got a photo of it visiting. Hope you enjoy. :)
