Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis)

I was able to get out to the hide for a little while yesterday after three days of cleaning up debris from the storm. We've had lots of birds at the feeders including many visits from a pair of cardinals and lots of Woodpeckers.

Things here are still upside down as we are still without electricity four days after the storm. My Mom has been staying with us but they've restored power to 200,000 homes and now there are only 138,000 left. I'm really hoping things go back to normal soon. I thought this fellow was a cheerful visitor to the landscape. Hope you enjoy him too!

A beautiful shot Deanne!

Sorry to hear you are still without power. It's got to be pretty darn cold.

Spectacular photo, Deanne. Best luck with the weather. Those ice storms can be so dangerous. It reminds me of one that hit Ontario and Quebec in 1998. I can't remember if it also hit the northeast US at the time. It was a doozy.

Thanks all! James, yes indeed, we did have a seven day power loss with the 1998 storm. That's what convinced us to invest in the generator. WE had some water pipes split from the freezing temps and no heat.

So NEWS FLASH! WE got our power back today at 8:30PM!!!! Woohoo!!!!!! I'm so excited I can vacuum my floors and do laundry.
